I wanted to send you an email but wasn't sure if you'd get it while you were on deployment.blunozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02917109513028096262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6838565498613319321.post-32085793877421760402008-10-29T16:52:00.000-04:002008-10-29T16:52:00.000-04:00Dani, Thanks for stopping by my blog during you...Dani,
Thanks for stopping by my blog during your busy underway time. I enjoyed reading your last few posts. I can definitely relate on several fronts, such as...
- Appreciation for seeing foreign ports that you might not have seen had it not been for the Navy. That's one of the best parts about being in the Navy is seeing the world and learning about other countries and cultures. In the nicer countries, you get to see marvelous and famous works of art and architecture. In the less-fortunate ports, it gives you an appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy in America.
- Enjoying the stars from the middle of the ocean with no city lights nearby. I especially liked being the first OOD to spot the Southern Cross after we crossed the equator heading to Australia.
Another favorite of mine is when you have dolphins riding your bow wave with a lot of bioluminescence. They look like glowing blue ghosts gracefully swirling and streaking through the water back and forth across your bow and leaving a glowing trail behind them.
I'm impressed and jealous you can blog while you're at sea though. Us bubbleheads don't have the luxury of internet access at sea.
Have a safe deployment!blunozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02917109513028096262noreply@blogger.com
